Welcome to Kinawa's online conference scheduling! Parents may schedule 5 minutes per teacher- but please look over a few helpful tips below. Our goal is to provide efficient access to parents, prioritizing academic conferences for teachers who teach both academics and non academic classes. Let me explain... Non academic classes, like Exploratory (technology, foods, drama, etc.) and Academic Extension, are taught by grade level teachers and take up conference slots that need to be available for parents to meet with those same teachers to talk about CORE academic classes (SS, Sci, LA, Math). Therefore, we kindly request that you book conference time for academic teachers and leave other slots open with them for other parents to conference about academics. Please only book one 5 minute conference per academic teacher.
To clarify, an example! Mrs. Jones teaches Social Studies, Language Arts and Foods If her Foods class parents book conference slots, it will not leave times for parents in the academic classes to conference with her. Parents who have a student with her for Language Arts and Social Studies should book one 5 minute conference with her.
We do understand that 5 minutes per teacher seems like a large reduction from elementary school. Due to the number of students and the switching of classes between more teachers, our conference schedule and times run like those in the middle and high school. So, please also remember that teacher contact is not limited to conference time. If you require more than 5 minutes, please let the teacher know and they will come up with a time to meet with you.
Don't forget to sign up to see music, physical education, art, reading, math lab, ELL and resource teachers! If you are unsure of who your child might have- check your child's schedule on Powerschool. Be sure to read the teacher's name and content area carefully- we have a few teachers with the same last name and want parents signing up with the right teacher.
We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents at our last conference period about the process and are looking forward to a great week of conferences at Kinawa.
